INDEXES END SEPTEMBER AT AN ALL-TIME HIGH
Market Overview (27th September – 1st October)
The main Bulgarian index SOFIX increased by 3.15% this week, up to 581.79 points. The broad index BGBX40 increased by 1.76% to 134.56 points. BGREIT decreased this trading week to 161.54 points, down by 0.02%.
Corporate News
Sopharma (SFA) has bought back 1.3 mln shares in September. This makes up nearly 1% of the total shares outstanding. During September the stock has gained 13.7%.
The offered price at the adjusted tender offers for CEZ Distribution Bulgaria (CEZD) and CEZ Electro Bulgaria (CEZE) are again below the market prices. The new offered price per share for CEZE was BGN 26,904, which is 11.5% below the last closing price. On the other hand, the new offered price per share for CEZD was BGN 291, close but again below the last closing price of BGN 292.
Allterco (AL4) has signed a deal to its Asian business to Skylight Venture Capital. Allterco will sell its subsidiaries in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand for €2.1 mln.
Economic News
Producer prices in Bulgaria increased 17.9% YoY in August of 2021. It is the highest gain in producer prices since at least 2001, boosted by prices of electricity (31.1%) and manufacturing (13.9%). The data was above the expected of 14.1%. Business Confidence in Bulgaria decreased to 17.50 points in September from 18.40 points in August of 2021. Tourist Arrivals in Bulgaria increased to 1234507 Persons in July from 742767 Persons in June of 2021.
Active COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria are on an increasing trend with a 7-day MA of 1,846 cases. The active cases at the end of the week were 45,056. The total number of fully vaccinated people so far is 1,337 mln, which is 19.25% of the population in Bulgaria.
